• Media/Representation - Watercolour is a media that is rare in this style of comic illustration, as it is a tool that can easily convey a certain tone or feeling through how it is applied, which isnt often a concern of comic illustration. However I think this little painting is an interesting deconstruction of the character of Doctor Doom. The subtle dark colours illustrate the villainous nature of the character, but the soft strokes of the brush convey a sort of vulnerability, as it isn't sharp and refined like normal images of the good (mostly bad actually) Doctor and therefore doesnt have the same qaulity as a typical drawing of the character. I pinned this because this sort of deconstruction of concepts and characters using illustration is something I have gradually become fascinated with throughout the year and really want to incorporate into my work going into level 5.
